Galaxy Aviation Consultancy Firm PRESENTA EL
BOEING 787 BBJ

LUHHO
October/November 2016
DESTINOS | EXCLUSIVO

Congratulations to GACF Aviation & Pierrejean Design Studios shortlisted for Private Jet Design in The International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2017 https://www.galaxyaviationfirm.com/2016/11/14/congratulations-GACF-aviation-pierrejean-design-studios-shortlisted-private-jet-design-international-yacht-aviation-awards-2017/ Mon, 14 Nov 2016 20:41:11 +0000 https://ka.pbdemosite.com/?p=17953 logo

Luxe et al magazine is delighted to announce that GACF Aviation & Pierrejean Design Studio have been shortlisted for Private Jet Design in The International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2017.

The 787 is a carbon-fibre, all-electrical aircraft. Given that GACF Aviation were the first to manage the installation of a high-end bespoke cabin in such an aircraft, GACF had to become innovative disruptors on this project.  The challenge was not only getting the cabin concept right but also ensuring that these concepts were compatible with the unique structural characteristics of the carbon-fibre 787.  Much of their experience with installing VVIP cabins on legacy, metal aircraft was of limited relevance to the BBJ 787. An entire new data set would need to be sourced from Boeing to facilitate the design and installation of a high-end cabin on the BBJ 787.

GACF Aviation - Dreamjet

Some designers offered cabin concepts for the BBJ 787 but many of these were out of touch with the technical realities of this aircraft type.  GACF Aviation are the first to convert a luxury BBJ 787 cabin concept to an actual luxury aircraft, certificated and ready for service. The BBJ can fly non-stop for 18 hours so passenger comfort was a high priority. The design concept needed to convey a feeling of zen, an oasis of peace, soft earth tones, uncluttered flowing lines with the absence of sharp edges, good control of natural and artificial mood lighting. To the touch, GACF & Pierrejean Design Studios wanted a design that felt organic with surfaces that invited emotional as well as physical connection.  Noise and vibration were addressed with extensive soundproofing. The design started with their perception of multi-cultural customer expectations; challenging as the end user was not defined!  Then they had to reconcile this perspective with the constraints presented by the carbon-composite structure. The aircraft’s complex electrical design and unique software architecture also presented a steep learning curve in the integration of the cabin design and associated systems onto the basic 787 BBJ.

DreamJet - GACF Aviation

GACF has had total turnkey responsibility for this first true BBJ 787 from original aircraft purchase through cabin design concept and cabin modification to delivery to the end user. This was essential for managing this very complex project which was way more challenging than other wide bodies like the BBJ 747-8. The design concept flows cohesively throughout the cabin with no discontinuity. Although deceptively simple at first sight, the design gradually stimulates the observer with subtle detail and textures that are well integrated with adjacent pieces to offer an appealing continuum.  The passenger is carried effortlessly through the cabin without visual or physical obstruction. This project proves that a cabin can be designed to appeal to Western, Asian and Middle Eastern customers alike.  It has subtle cues from each culture that transcend regional stereotypes. The eye of the beholder can interpret those design cues from his individual cultural perspective.  This is the unique nature of this design.

The above photo shows what a Boeing 787 Dreamliner typically looks like on the outside. It’s big—so big that most models fit anywhere from 242 to 330 passengers.

Now, imagine what it would be like to fly on this plane if its 2,400-square-foot interior was modified to accommodate just 40 people. It would be pretty cool, right? Well, Galaxy Aviation Consultancy Firm made just those modifications. The aviation consulting firm just sold its first Dreamliner, built specifically as a custom Boeing Business Jet (BBJ), according to GACF CEO Kawaga J. Sabawa.

Since the plane was sold to an undisclosed Asian operator, it’s unlikely any of us will take a ride on it anytime soon. But let’s take a look at the luxe interiors that were co-designed with Pierrejean Design Studio. It doesn’t hurt to daydream:

Unless you’re the same height as a character from The Hobbit, you know the misery involved in air travel.

Legroom is basically non-existent, you’re crammed between a mixed bag of strangers and reprobates, and it’s generally about as enjoyable as a particularly sweet batch of root canal treatment.

But, what’s this? Since you asked, it’s a £250 million Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

Sadly, it’s only for private use, so you won’t be taking the mates to Ibiza, and you probably need the bankroll of the characters who swiped Kim Kardashian’s jewelery to be able to use it. But, still, look at it… Or let Kawaga J. Sabawa of developers Galaxy Aviation Consultancy Firm give you the tour.

It seems epic. In fact, that’s the biggest understatement since the captain of the Titanic reacted to hitting an iceberg with ‘nah, just a scratch, it’ll polish out’ (this may or may not have happened).

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner looks completely, totally amazing. BAVIATION is saying there is 6,500+ square feet in cabin space and the crew also have their own resting space.

To be fair, they’ve thought of everything!

I won’t get too technical here but it has the kit to decrease airsickness and also filter out germs. So, no more snivelling into those plane blankets that feel like recycled toilet paper.

Apparently it has been bankrolled by an ‘anonymous Asian businessman’ and, to be fair, you would probably keep it quiet if you were packing that sort of dollar.

There are showers in en-suite bathrooms, walk-in wardrobes and every mod-con you could want. Any takers?

Those with good eyes will also have spotted pot plants behind Stephy V. Not sure about that. Looks a bit Changing Rooms. But as for the rest of it, sign us up.

The Boeing 787 that’s an airborne penthouse apartment

The Telegraph | October 5, 2016

written by: John O’Ceallaigh, Telegraph Luxury Travel Editor

Ordinarily Boeing 787 Dreamliners serve as commercial aircraft that carry between 240 and 335 passengers, but in a world first one of the planes has been transformed into a 40-passenger private jet so spacious and well-equipped that it resembles an airborne penthouse apartment.

Developed by Galaxy Aviation Consultancy Firm, an American aviation asset manager that specialises in airliner and corporate aircraft acquisition, sale, modification and financing, this one-of-a-kind Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) has been dubbed the Dreamjet. The privileged few who get to step aboard can expect an in-flight experience worlds away from that offered on a typical Boeing.

With its interiors co-developed by yacht and aircraft design specialists Pierrejean Design, the plane is intended to serve as a sanctuary – particular attention was given to how the space would stimulate each of the senses. To ensure passengers’ senses of smell and taste weren’t unduly challenged, the team considered air distribution and filtration and segregated zones with hard and soft barriers; for touch, innovative, tactile materials were used to create a “luxuriously organic” setting finished with flowing lines and the absence of sharp edges.

Features aboard include high domed ceilings, hardwood floors, sculptured hardwood doors and hand-tufted carpets with silk accents. Tablets control lighting, video monitors, audio, window shades and flight-attendant requests. Among the segregated zones on board will be an entertainment and study lounge that accommodates 16, dedicated dining spaces, en suite master bedroom with 42-inch television, dressing room and a vast hotel suite-quality bathroom with shower.

Though the company is unable to reveal the individual who commissioned the BBJ, it was purchased by an Asian client and has been in development since 2009. GACF worked directly with Boeing on the project from 2011 and 2013 and the plane was unveiled at this year’s European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition in Geneva. The aircraft has a 9,800 nautical mile range and can fly for over 17 hours non-stop.

While the project was entirely novel, Galaxy Aviation Consultancy Firm has much experience in ambitious aircraft conversions. Its customer base includes major international airlines, UHNW individuals, financial institutions, airplane manufacturers and governmental bodies and so far the company has been involved in the purchase or sale of over 300 commercial aircraft, with a combined value of over $50 billion.

Details about this new endeavour come at a time of significant innovation within the premium aviation sector as a whole.

Until now known only for its seafaring tours, Crystal Cruises has announced that it is to launch Crystal Aircruises, an elegantly styled Boeing 777-200LR that will feature a 24-person dining room where meals are prepared by a dedicated chef, a bar and a first-class seating area where fully lie-flat seats are transformed into comfortable beds with mattress toppers, plush duvets and blankets. The plane will be used by groups enjoying themed 14-, 21- or 28-day round-the-world itineraries.

A Boeing 787-8 is transformed into an apartment that can fly.

If you feel that a private jet can never be toospacious, consider a customized Boeing Dreamliner. “A business executive toured the aircraft and afterward he told me that he’d like to have it as a second home—one that he could fly from place to place,” says Kawaga J. Sabawa, the CEO of Galaxy Aviation Consultancy Firm, a Washington-based company that initiated the design and oversaw the customization of the Dreamliner shown on these pages.

When configured for commercial flights, a 787-8 can carry more than 240 passengers. The passenger area is 18 feet across and more than 138 feet long. At roughly 2,400 square feet, the cabin is nearly three times the size of the 737 Boeing Business Jet’s. The 787 has a range of more than 9,000 miles when it’s configured to carry only 40 passengers, as this aircraft is.

The cabin was bare, or green, when GACF took delivery of the aircraft for its owner in 2014. The company hired Paris-based Pierrejean Design to create 2-D and 3-D models of the proposed interior and worked with Greenpoint Technologies of Washington to complete the aircraft. The result is a cabin that is elegant and uncluttered and provides passengers with an unforgettable travel experience.

Main Lounge

To maximize headroom in this space, the ceiling was raised, and the walls were designed to frame the 18-inch-by-10-inch windows in such a way that makes them appear even larger than they are. “We pushed the cabin out in all directions,” says Vella.

The forward area of the lounge is furnished with twin sofas that slide together electronically to form a daybed that faces a 55-inch video screen. Adjacent to the sofas are four single seats (two on each side of the aircraft) with pop-out tables that can serve as workstations.

boeing-787-8-main-lounge-02

The rear section of the lounge contains a pair of couches and two coffee tables, each of which can be raised to form a dining table that seats six people.

All of the entertainment and lighting options, including the blackout window shades, can be controlled with a tablet or a smartphone, and Wi-Fi is available to all passengers.

Entrance

entrance-boeing-787-8

You enter most business jets at the front, near the galley and crew areas. But this aircraft’s entryway is closer to the middle of the cabin, and it is grand. Wavy walls lead you down a hallway that separates the main cabin from the master bedroom and the hidden rest area for the crew. At the end of the hallway you come upon an oversize gong and pass around it to get to the main lounge. The entryway features wood-veneer flooring, leather-accented bulkheads, and dramatic accent lighting.

Master Bedroom

master-bedroom-boeing-787-8

To be restful, a bedroom must be quiet. So in the master suite the walls are equipped with extra soundproofing to further insulate the space from engine noise and sounds from the main lounge. The walls also are lined with material that deflects sound. “This gives the bedroom the quality of a sound studio,” says Vella. The bedroom is larger than 13 feet (not including the dressing area). It is furnished with a California king-size bed, and there is still plenty of walk-around room. The wall that serves as a headboard contains shelves with electric candles that can be controlled from a panel above one of the nightstands. Other amenities include a 42-inch video screen and a refrigerator and freezer in the dressing room.

Master Bathroom

boeing-787-8-master-bath-01

boeing-787-8-master-bath-02

On the other side of the bedroom’s headboard wall is the master bathroom. It has dual sinks and a marble floor that’s heated. The shower is about 5 feet by 3 feet. “We have other features to add once the FAA approves them, including a makeup mirror,” says Vella. In addition to a bedroom area and a bathroom, the master suite includes the aforementioned dressing area, closets with rods high enough to hang a ball gown, a separate shoe closet, a hidden safe, and bureaus that will hold two weeks’ worth of clothing.

Guest and Staff Cabins

guest-and-staff-cabins-boeing-787-8

The aircraft includes a separate seating area behind the main lounge that has its own entryway. It’s configured more like a commercial airliner’s first-class section, with seating for 18 passengers. All seats here recline fully flat to create sleeping berths that are 6 feet 2 inches long. Just beyond the guest cabin is the staff cabin with six seats that Vella calls “premium economy.” Vella says this section is ideal for when you’re “traveling with nannies, personal staff, or a security team.”

Second Bathroom

second-bathroom-boeing-787-8

The second lavatory occupies a circular space behind the wall at the rear of the main lounge. It contains a large marble vanity. Adjacent to the bathroom are a wardrobe and a buffet table that doubles as a bar. “It’s like an apartment,” Vella says of the aircraft. “You can live on it while you travel.”

…with the ability to fly you and 39 of your closest friends to anywhere you want in less than 17 hours. Next month, China’s HNA Group will take delivery of a new Boeing 787-8 private jet. As configured, the 787 Boeing Business Jet, has a range of almost 9,800 miles even when packed with 40 passengers, luggage, and fuel.

With a flying time of about 17 hours, the plane can reach virtually any destination on earth, Galaxy Aviation Consultancy Firm CEO Kawaga J. Sabawa told Business Insider. From start to finish, the aviation consulting firm, GACF Aviation, oversaw the creation of this 787.

Although several 787s have been converted from passenger service to private use, this is the first Dreamliner to be built specifically as a BBJ, Vella said. It is the 143rd Dreamliner to roll out of Boeing’s factory and first flew in December 2013. The plane was delivered to GACF in January 2014.

Since no one had done a true Boeing 787 private jet before, GACF, along with partners Pierrejean Design Studios and Greenpoint Technologies, had to design and engineer the interior of the aircraft from scratch. In fact, the interior took a year to engineer as well as another year and a half to fabricate and install, Vella said.

The innovative Boeing 787 BBJ is not exactly cheap. The base Boeing 787-8 carries a list price of $224.6 million, while the modifications add another $100 million or so to the price tag.

Here’s a closer look at the first Boeing 787-8 BBJ:

For years, Boeing has offered its airliners for sale to private parties or governments under its BBJ program. That ranges from the massive 747-8 jumbo jet …

The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner first flew in 2009, and the composite-body airliner is renowned for its range, comfort, and fuel efficiency. Unlike its passenger-ferrying compatriots, however, the BBJ version carries far fewer people but is packed with a ton more features.
